Raspberries

Odeberry en Zambujeira, Portugal

Issues:

Odeberry Farms grow a large area of covered raspberry for early autumn/winter production. The production period for raspberry in the region is 3-4 years with every year’s production being grown as young shoots (spawn) grown from the base of the plants. The soils in the region are predominantly sand so continual watering is required to maximise yield and generate potential new spawn. Water is lost due to free draining soils, evaporation from the surface of the raspberry beds and from the higher temperatures and constant strong breeze from the Atlantic.

Application:

Integrate has been applied by drip irrigation (in soil: 2.0 /ha in the first application and 1.0/ ha for subsequent applications every thirty days).

Results:

Since using Integrate, the farm has seen higher yield and great spawn production and has been able to reduce irrigation levels by 30%.
